Martin O’Neill Resigns as Manager of Aston Villa

9 08 2010

Martin O’Neill resigned as manager of Aston Villa earlier this afternoon.

As always, Sky Sports News was first to break the news. At this stage we are unsure as to why he has come to this decision but many journalists believe it could be due to players being sold, or due to be sold, without his consent. The players in question appear to be James Milner and more surprisingly Nicky Shorey.

Bob Bradley has been made 3/1 favourite with SkyBet to succeed O’Neill in the Villa Park hotseat with Sven Goran Erikkson at 7/1. Alan Curbishley, Martin Jol and Slaven Bilic are all 8/1.
